Brut Cake began in Taiwan in 2011 as a creative concept that shows up in products, art and everyday life. Our Australian company followed in 2024, and the designer behind each piece remains a big part of the story. Brut refers to Art Brut, the French movement that celebrates raw and original expression, and Cake stands for the simple pleasures and happiness in life. We take that idea from pure art into useful, functional creation. Our handcrafted objects are made in small batches with natural and sustainable materials. Linen fish cushions bring a cheeky touch to a lounge or bedroom, and the 100 smiley mugs are ceramics with over 100 ink-brushed faces to choose from. Bags, crochet pieces and lanterns complete the range, and we also re-imagine elements from discarded furniture into new functional pieces. Our Tu-Bu textile bags use fabrics handcrafted 30 to 100 years ago. Each one has a story that makes it easy to gift. We welcome shoppers and stockists Australia-wide who treasure good design.
